Pat Aldred joined the army in 1998 after completing 2 years as a Methodist Minister in Nottingham. After commissioning into the Royal Army Chaplains’ Department, he served with the Infantry and completed Operational tours in Kosovo, Bosnia and Iraq.
In 2007, whilst on duty in Germany, he met his partner and entered into a civil partnership. He made history by becoming the first Army Chaplain to do so. In 2008, Pat became the LGBT lead for the army and, is currently, an LGBT Champion for the army.
