Over the past 40 years the political and societal attitudes towards lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people has changed beyond recognition. Today almost all discriminatory laws and policies have been repealed and equal protection extended into all areas of life. This has been achieved by the dedicated campaigning of LGBT individuals and straight allies who have tirelessly worked to achieve equality for all.

This project sets out to chart these changes from the perspective of one institution. We peer into the official records and memories of the University of Liverpool, the Liverpool Guild of Students and the staff and students who were there.

Originally an exhibition in 2012, this website provides an online archive of the materials displayed, as well as providing additional research materials and references which were used to develop the LGBT Timeline.
