Queer Tango London: "A History of Same-Sex Tango Dancing" by Dr Ray Batchelor @ St George the Martyr | England | United Kingdom

“But didn’t tango start with men dancing with each other?” Myth or fact or both or neither? And what about women?

A chance for you to find out…

February is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual History Month.

As its contribution, Queer Tango London have asked Dr Ray Batchelor, queer tango historian, to give a lecture, “A History of Same-Sex Tango Dancing”.

Of course, we need to understand why myths are sustained (and who is being “protected” by them), but the historical picture is not only more complex, it is far more interesting to us dancing tango in the 21st century than any number of neat little plausible stories.
