Shropshire Rainbow Film Festival @ Old Market Hall Cinema

Shropshire Rainbow Film Festival, in it’s 12th year, screens LGBTQ+ films. There are feature films, documentaries, International & UK short films, Q & A sessions with visiting speakers/directors. This year, we have a lecture: ‘Looking Awry: Bisexual Desires on Screen’, by Jacob Engelburg, a Film Programmer based in Brighton, England where he runs the queer film strand Eyes Wide Open Cinema. The films reflect LGBTQ+ lives and experiences from around the world. There are stories of celebration, struggle, comedy – there is something for everyone! Audience comments on 2016: ‘Really terrific festival’…’Good mixture of documentary, love story and polemic’…’The variety of films and issues was brilliant’…’I love the atmosphere/the personal feel to the whole event’ So, why not pack your toothbrush and come to Shrewsbury for the weekend?!
The Festival opens on Friday, 6th October, at 7.30pm. The opening film starts at 8.00pm. Saturday starts at 11.00am and films/lectures continue throughout the day, until 10.00pm (finish time). Sunday starts at 11.00am and finishes at 8.40pm. Short film sessions are free; for other films: prices vary according to time of day. Please contact the Old Market Hall Cinema for details. Booking in advance is advisable.
