Throughout February events across the UK are being held to mark world Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) History Month.

Stuart Milk, nephew of the former San Francisco mayor and civil rights activist, Harvey Milk, has dedicated his life to travelling the world advocating for LGBT people.

He will be in the Brunswick Room, at the Guildhall, on Wednesday 21st February from 7-8.30pm giving a talk on ‘Global LGBT Rights and the Power of Your Story.’

Bath & North East Somerset Council is hosting the talk, which is free.

Councillor Paul Myers (Conservative Midsomer Norton Redfield) Cabinet Member for Economic and Community Regeneration, said: “As the co-founder and executive of the Harvey Milk Foundation, Stuart has supported local, regional and national human rights in more than 60 nations on six continents.

“We are looking forward to welcoming him to Bath during LGBT History Month.”

Stuart Milk received the Presidential medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in August 2009 on behalf of his uncle.
