Why has the advancement of the state structure in the past two decades not produced any inclusion and recognition of LGBTQ rights in Venezuela? We will aim to address some of the myths portrayed by the media in the past two decades, about this South American country through the experience of a former LGBT activist, providing an approach that intends to rise above the two political factions while maintaining a critical perspective committed to the human rights struggle.
