Obituary – Angela Clayton MBE

We’ve received the very sad news of the recent death of Angela Clayton MBE. Angela, who as a member of Prospect, was involved for many years with the TUC LGBT conference (as a delegate) and as a member of the TUC LGBT Committee. She was a powerful advocate for the rights of trans people, and was also a leading activist in the organisation Press for Change. Angela’s life will be remembered at the LGBT Conference this year

Israeli Police Attack on Transwoman ‘a prank’: Not a Hate Crime

An Israeli transgender woman was assaulted by a group of young masked men on Saturday morning, reports Israeli news source Haaretz. The suspects reportedly attacked the woman using pepper spray and a stun gun after leaving a nightclub in southern Tel Aviv early Saturday morning. Sean Bean wins International Emmy for Trans role

British actor Sean Bean has won an International Emmy for his work in BBC One drama series Accused. The 54-year-old won for his portrayal of a teacher with a Trans alter ego in the Tracie’s Story episode of the Jimmy McGovern serial.

Through Her Eyes – a film about transphobia. Lily Padma and Team are a small team of transgender volunteers working very long hours alongside normal jobs to produce a short film, and linked campaign. Their aim is to create a greater sense of empathy and understanding towards the trans* community; they want to reduce the number of young trans* individuals who have had to live through abuse and discrimination, as they have.

USA – Teen who set fire to Berkeley student cites homophobia. The Alameda County District Attorney in California has charged 16-year-old Richard Thomas for a hate crime, along with aggravated mayhem and felony assault, for setting fire to 18-year-old Berkeley student Luke “Sasha” Fleischman on an AC Transit bus on 3rd November.
